Armed men suspected to be Lakurawa terrorists, encroaching from Kebbe local government area of Sokoto state, Wednesday, killed a foreign national and two soldiers at the Super Highway Construction Site at Gubba village in Andarai district, Maiyama local government area of Kebbi state.
Two civilians were injured in another attack by the group along Birnin Malam axis.
Kebbi state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, who confirmed the incident, said the attackers were successfully repelled by police teams and joint security forces.
“Tactical teams have been deployed to support and sustain security, while scores of the attackers were neutralised and motorcycles recovered by the military,” the PPRO said.
Blueprint learnt that work on the 1000-kilometre Sokoto – Badagry Super Highway, traversing more than 200km in Kebbi state is however progressing steadily with quality assurance despite the attack.
