Kaduna PDP candidate condemns attack on campaign rally in Kafanchan
The Kaduna State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Usman Shehu Bawa, ABG, has condemned the violent attack on the Campaign Rally of the Party’s House of Representatives Candidate, who went on a campaign in Kafanchan on Monday.
The governorship candidate, in a statement issued to newsmen in kaduna, by his spokesperson, Yusuf Idris, described the attack as primitive and dangerous to the survival of democracy.
He said the attack, again, showed the desperation of some political leaders to heat the polity and cause unnecessary tension among the people.
Shehu ABG pointed out that the ruling APC government must, as a matter of fairness, create an enabling environment for all opposition political parties to sell their manifestos to the electorates.
“The APC, as the ruling party, should create an enabling environment for us that are in the opposition to sell our manifestos to the public and let the people make their own choices. What are they afraid of? By sending thugs to attack a campaign rally indicates that they are not visible in terms of providing dividends of democratic rule’. Shehu ABG added
He added that the Kafanchan attack on PDP also highlights the danger lying ahead as the 2027 general election approaches, urging security agencies to be neutral and fair in handling election issues before, during and after the elections.
The governorship candidate maintained that those behind the attack are intimidated by the popularity of the PDP and its candidates among Nigerians.
He urged supporters of the PDP to remain calm in the midst of provocation, saying that victory for the party is already assured, God Willing.
