NSCIA restructures, expands NEC

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has restructured and expanded its National Executive Council (NEC) to strengthen the administration, coordination and effective management of Islamic affairs in Nigeria.

In a statement issued Sunday by the Public Affairs Officer of the NSCIA, Abbas Jimoh, the development was among the major decisions reached at the General Assembly of the Council held in Abuja.

The NSCIA, under the leadership of its President-General, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and other Muslim leaders approved the renewal and expansion of the Council’s National Executive Council.

The General Assembly, attended by Muslim leaders, including traditional leaders of the Islamic faith and Chief Imams of Central Mosques across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), approved the renewal and expansion.

Under the new arrangement, Prof. Mahfouz Adedimeji, was appointed Deputy Secretary-General (National), Prof. Salisu Shehu as Deputy Secretary-General (International), Mr Abeny Mohammed (SAN) as Deputy Secretary-General (Corporate), while Dr Bala Muhammad was appointed Deputy Secretary-General (Administration).

The council also appointed Dr Umar Jibrilu Gwandu as Public Relations Officer (PRO), Hajia Sekinat Lawal as Deputy Public Relations Officer (DPRO), Dr Mairo Mandara as Development Officer and Arch. Abdullahi Musa as Deputy Development Officer (Technical).

Also, Prof. Fatimah Abdulkarim, was appointed Family Affairs Officer.(NAN)
