HK boss denies maltreating man, explains why he sold his phone for ₦90,000

The young man accused of maltreating a man who claimed he was working for him at his residence has shared his side of the story.
According to him, the man was introduced to him by his wife’s brother as someone who needed a place to stay and work.
He said he agreed to accommodate him and claimed the man stayed in his house for about six months, during which he provided him with food and other necessities and gave him a computer to use for work.
The man alleged that his guest later told him he was experiencing spiritual problems and needed money to seek help, but he could not provide the money requested.
He said the man subsequently asked him to help raise money by selling the phone he was using, and he agreed to help him sell it.
According to him, he contacted people he knew to find a buyer but said the phone was an old iPhone 11 with a weak battery, which affected its value.
He claimed he eventually sold the phone for ₦90,000 and intended to give the money to the man to help him travel and address his personal issues.
The HK boss also denied locking the man up, saying he did not prevent him from leaving his residence.
He added that he had tried to help the man on several occasions but could no longer provide the financial assistance he was requesting.
