Halle Berry’s Daughter Nahla, 18, responds to child abuse claims against the actress

Nahla Aubry, the 18-year-old daughter of Halle Berry, has formally responded to child abuse allegations leveled against the Oscar-winning actress, declaring in court documents that she has never witnessed her mother act violently toward anyone.
The declaration, filed on October 3 in Los Angeles Superior Court, comes after Berry’s ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, filed for sole custody of their 13-year-old son, Maceo. Martinez alleged that Berry physically abused the teenager during a September 26 incident and claimed additional instances of mistreatment in recent years, allegations Berry has denied, noting her own history as a survivor of domestic violence.
In the court filing, Aubry defended Berry’s parenting record, characterizing her as a loving, devoted, and supportive mother who maintains clear boundaries without resorting to physical aggression.
“I never observed anything abusive about her parenting,” Aubry wrote. “I have never seen my mom hit, slap, choke, grab, or physically abuse Maceo in any way. I have never seen my mom place her hands around Maceo’s neck, put him in a chokehold, restrict his breathing, or engage in any conduct remotely resembling the allegations that have been made against her.”
Aubry, who shares the same household with Maceo for most of his life, noted that while her mother maintains a high-profile public career, she consistently prioritized her children’s education, medical needs, and extracurricular activities. She added that Berry has always encouraged both children to maintain positive relationships with their respective fathers and never spoke negatively about them.
Addressing past family history, Aubry recalled a childhood memory involving Martinez and her own father, Gabriel Aubry, while reiterating that her mother has never demonstrated violent behavior.
“In all my years living with my mom, I have never witnessed her act violently toward anyone; however, I do remember Oliver beating up my father in our driveway when I was little,” Aubry stated. “I have also never seen my mom throw anything at anyone, not a knife, or plate, or any other object.”
Aubry described the interactions between Berry and Maceo as affectionate, noting that roughhousing between them was purely playful and filled with laughter. She expressed sadness over the legal proceedings, sharing concern over the impact the custody dispute might have on her brother and his relationship with their mother.
