Group backs Pantami for governor, advocates new direction in Gombe

The Gombe Forward Movement Concepts (GFMC) has endorsed Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as its preferred candidate for the 2027 Gombe state governorship election.
The group, led by Ms. Monica Yahaya Kaltho, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, announced the endorsement during the unveiling of the group on Sunday, describing the decision as a demonstration of political maturity, unity, and commitment to the collective interest of Gombe state.
According to GFMC, Ms. Kaltho’s decision to step down from the governorship contest and support Prof. Pantami was motivated by the need to promote political unity and what the group described as the broader interest of the state.
The organisation said its support for Prof. Pantami goes beyond the decision of its leadership, stressing that it has a grassroots structure comprising women, youths, community leaders and other stakeholders across Gombe state.
It said the network extends from the state level to local government areas, wards and polling units, providing a platform for mobilising citizens ahead of the 2027 election.
GFMC said its political philosophy is anchored on empowering women, equipping youths and elevating communities, adding that its endorsement of Prof. Pantami was informed by his experience in public service, education, technology, digital transformation and national development.
The group said Prof. Pantami’s experience could contribute to human capital development, technological innovation, economic opportunities, youth empowerment, women’s advancement and inclusive development in Gombe state.
“Beyond personal ambition, this is about the future of Gombe state,” GFMC said, urging its members, supporters and other well-meaning citizens to unite behind Prof. Pantami’s political vision.
