Apple unveils first foldable iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 series

Apple has unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, describing the device as a major redesign of its flagship smartphone.
The device was unveiled on Wednesday during Apple’s product event, which also featured the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, updated AirPods and new Apple Watch models.
According to CNN and The Independent, the iPhone Duo features a foldable design with a 7.6-inch continuous display when fully unfolded.
Apple also described the device as its thinnest iPhone ever.
Apple enters foldable smartphone market
When folded, the iPhone Duo has a screen roughly the size of a passport, while controls including the home-screen dock and status indicators have been moved to the right side of the display for easier access.
Introducing the device, Apple’s new Chief Executive Officer, John Ternus, criticised existing foldable smartphones, saying they felt like “two phones awkwardly stuck together.”
The launch marked Ternus’ first Apple product event as CEO after taking over from Tim Cook earlier this month.
The iPhone Duo is expected to cost more than $2,000, according to The Independent, which described it as a complete redesign of Apple’s most iconic product.
iPhone 18 Pro models get major upgrades
Apple also unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with the Pro model starting at $1,199 and the Pro Max at $1,299.

The prices are higher than those of last year’s iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, which started at $1,099 and $1,199 respectively, according to CNN.
The iPhone 18 Pro features a variable-aperture camera that allows users to adjust how much light enters the lens.
Apple also said its new thermal management system would help regulate the devices’ temperature.
The company introduced the Apple Upgrade programme, allowing customers to make monthly payments over 12 or 24 months and upgrade to a new iPhone at the end of the lease.
Apple upgrades AirPods and smartwatches
Apple also unveiled the AirPods 5, featuring improved sound quality and noise cancellation, alongside Siri AI tools including live translation.
The new Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 also received health and artificial intelligence upgrades.
The watches will feature a new “Readiness” score that combines users’ recent activity, vital signs and sleep.
A new Audio Intelligence feature will also allow the watches to identify sounds such as sirens and alarms.
Apple said the audio features would not store recordings and that the audio would be end-to-end encrypted.
The event was Ternus’ first keynote as Apple CEO, with the new chief executive presenting the company’s latest products and outlining his vision for its future.
