The Patriotic Movement for Asiwaju (PMA), an All Progressives Congress (APC) support group, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, urging citizens to remain patient with his administration’s economic reforms.

The movement said the reforms introduced by the President were aimed at addressing longstanding economic challenges and creating a foundation for sustainable growth, adding that their benefits would become more evident with time.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by its National Secretary, Dr Brown Ibom, the group highlighted what it described as the positive prospects of the Tinubu administration’s policies and appealed to Nigerians not to lose faith in the government’s reform agenda.

Ibom said the government’s policies were intended to reposition the economy, improve national productivity and create opportunities for sustainable development.

He acknowledged that reforms could come with difficulties but urged Nigerians to exercise patience, insisting that the country needed consistency and sustained commitment to achieve the desired results.

According to him, the reforms offer opportunities to address structural weaknesses in the economy and establish a stronger foundation for future prosperity.

The PMA national secretary also called on Nigerians to consider the long-term objectives of the administration’s policies rather than judge them solely by the immediate challenges associated with their implementation.

He expressed confidence that the reforms would produce positive outcomes if effectively implemented and supported by sustained efforts to strengthen the economy.

Ibom further declared that the movement believed there was no better alternative to Tinubu, urging Nigerians to support his administration as the country approaches another election cycle in 2027.

He maintained that continuity in governance would provide the administration with an opportunity to consolidate its policies and pursue its stated development objectives.

On calls for the return of fuel subsidy, Ibom described such a move as a metaphorical return to Egypt, invoking the biblical account of the Israelites’ return to bondage after their departure from slavery.

He argued that reversing the subsidy removal policy would amount to abandoning the direction taken by the government in its effort to reform the economy.

The group urged Nigerians to remain engaged in the national development process while allowing the government’s policies time to deliver their intended results.

The movement also called for public support for the administration’s reform agenda ahead of the 2027 presidential election, expressing optimism about the country’s economic prospects under Tinubu’s leadership.
