The Labour Party (LP) standard bearer for lkwerre state constituency, Hon. Stasi Amadi, has promised Rivers people of her determination to support measures aimed at ridding the state of crimes and related activities if elected into power in 2027.
Hon Amadi made the promise in an interview with journalists,Wednesday, shortly after she scaled through security scrutiny with the Department of State Services (DSS) in Port Harcourt.
She said her vision was to contribute to the emergence of a peaceful and secure Rivers state where residents could move freely and conduct their legitimate businesses without fear, emphasising that security remains fundamental to economic and social development of the state.
“The days when violence was regarded as an inevitable feature of electioneering must be brought to an end. Political disagreement should be resolved through dialogue, tolerance and democratic engagement,” Amadi stated.
She called on political actors and their supporters to shun violence and give peace a chance during and after election as according to her, no one’s political ambition was worth the destruction of property and individuals’ blood.
Amadi explained that the LP participation in the Rainbow Coalition had further strengthened its resolve to work with like-minded political forces towards achieving peace, development and well secured Rivers state.
