Rivers 2027: Amaechi’s former ally gives reasons for dumping ADC

Dr Sokonte Davies, a long time political ally of the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has advanced reasons why he dumped the main opposition party.
Davies, who officially announced his decision to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Thursday in a statement he sent to Blueprint, said he took the decision after a wide consultation with his associates, friends, constituents and family members.
He said the reason for the decision was to assess where he could best serve the political interest of his people and move Rivers politically and economically forward in the comity of states in Nigeria.
In the statement, Davies noted that he was concerned with contributing his quota to the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the stabilisation of Rivers state politically.
“After extensive consultation with my family, political associates, constituents, and elders, and following the cessation of my membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recently, I hereby announce my decision to return o the All Progressives Congress (APC), a party which I was privileged to be a foundational member.
“This decision has not been taken lightly. It flows from deep reflection, patriotic conviction, and a clear-eyed assessment of where I can best serve our people and contribute to the goal which is to re-elect the President to ensure the stability of the nation.
“The APC remains the most credible platform for progressive governance, national unity, and grassroots development. For me, this is a homecoming,” he said.
The former chieftain of the ADC said his sojourn in the party was marked by service and commitment.
