NDC chieftain Galadima says Ekiti ex-gov, Fayemi, seven others are working to defeat Tinubu

A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has alleged that former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, is working with the opposition to defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Galadima made the allegation on Thursday night, September 24, during an appearance on Channels Television’s “Politics Today”, where he expressed confidence that the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, would win the election if it is free and fair.

The NDC chieftain claimed that seven of them are working critically against President Tinubu’s re-election bid, stressing that they are making progress.

“I also want to say publicly that I am one of the group of opposition candidates, seven of us, under the coordination of Governor Fayemi Kayode, working on that, and we are making progress,” he said.

Asked what they were working on, the NDC chieftain said outrightly, “To defeat Tinubu.”

Posting a clip of the interview, a media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said he would not believe the claim until Fayemi debunks it.

Fayemi, one of the founding fathers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had on several occasions criticised the ruling party.

On March 23, 2026, the National Secretary of the APC urged Fayemi to resign from the ruling party if he no longer believed in its ideals.

The party warned that it could invoke disciplinary measures against the former governor over alleged anti-party activities.
