Man slits 60-year-old woman

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old Haruna Amadu for allegedly k!lling a 60-year-old woman he accused of witchcraft.
The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, September 25, 2026 said the suspect blamed the victim for the illness of a woman identified as Maryam Amadu.
According to the PPRO, Amadu entered the home of the victim in Wasari Village, Gadau District, slit her throat and st@bbed in the chest and other parts of her body with a knife.
“On 24th September, 2026 at about 0800hrs, information was received that on the same date at about 0700hrs, one Haruna Amadu ‘M’ 25 years old of Kuka Buni Village, Gadau District, criminally trespassed into the house of a 60 years old Hafsatu Ya’u ‘F’  of Wasari Village, Gadau District,” the statement read.
“The suspect allegedly slit her neck and st@bbed her on the chest and various parts of her body, accusing her of being a witch and alleging that she caused the illness of one Maryam Amadu ‘F’ of Kuka Buni Village, who is seriously sick. As a result, the victim became unconscious while the suspect fled to an unknown destination.
“On receipt of the report, a team of detectives attached to Gadau Division raced to the scene and evacuated the victim to General Hospital Azare for immediate medical attention.
“She was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The corpse was released to her relatives for burial. The suspect has been arrested.
“Both cases are under investigation and will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi for discreet investigation.
“The Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+) condemns in strong terms jungle justice, witchcraft-related k!llings and violence against women and children, and warns the public to desist from taking laws into their own hands.”
