2027: Bagudu grassroots group pledges 19m northern votes for Tinubu
A mobilisation group; Atiku Bagudu Grassroots Network for Tinubu 2027 has pledged to deliver not less than 19 million votes from northern Nigeria for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The group has also named the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, as its Grand Patron.
The endorsement was made after an Abuja meeting attended by delegates representing the 19 northern states.
Convener of the group, Ali Oriri, said the network has already built a strong grassroots structure across the North to mobilise support for Tinubu and secure the group’s target of 19 million votes.
He the group’s support was based on Tinubu’s administration’s “efforts to reposition the economy, strengthen infrastructure and implement reforms aimed at creating a more sustainable fiscal foundation for the country.”
He said the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange reforms and ongoing fiscal and tax reforms were difficult decisions, but necessary measures which, according to the group, were aimed at addressing longstanding structural challenges in the economy.
It further cited ongoing investments in roads, rail, power, housing, agriculture and other sectors as reasons for seeking continuity under Tinubu, saying “continuity was important to allow the reforms to mature and translate into broader economic opportunities.”
