As part of activities marking this year’s independence anniversary, Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Thursday, doled out cash supports and donated household items to newborn babies, mothers and children to support their medical expenses to fast track their healing process.
The state commissioner for information, Barrister Leader Teneke, led other commissioners including Hon. Aloysius Babadoke Culture and Tourusm, Mr.John Dabari Commerce, Mrs.Wunfe Anthony Transport and Mrs. Neido kafulto Women Affairs, to visit various wards of Yola Specialist Hospital and Madibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH) to delivere the governor’s message to the beneficiaries.
Speaking in an interview with journalists after rounding up the exercise, Leneke said that the state government’s decision to identify with children and newborn babies was to bring succour to the people especially those in the hospitals taking into consideration the current economic reality in the country.
He said although government has been supporting the citizens through various intervations, they deemed it fit to celebrate this year’s independence with the vulnerable in the society.
The commissioner noted the support would go a along way to assist the beneficiaries especially in settling their medical bills and meeting other needs.
He said the gesture was inline with the present administration’s commitments to revamp the health sector of the state, and expand access to quality health care services.
