The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has urged eligible Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), insisting that no political party will be allowed to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general election.

The council dismissed claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would write election results in favour of its candidates, describing the narrative as a deliberate attempt to discourage voter participation and promote apathy ahead of the polls.

In a statement on Friday, the ADC-PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, said Nigerians must not surrender their democratic rights to fear or political propaganda as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins nationwide PVC collection.

“Go and collect your PVC. Your voter’s card is your power and your guarantee that you will vote on January 16, 2027,” Ologbondiyan said.

He insisted that the notion that votes would not count was false, declaring that “nobody will be allowed to manipulate the 2027 general election.”

The ADC campaign alleged that the narrative was being promoted by APC supporters to discourage Nigerians from voting because of the ruling party’s alleged poor performance in government.

“The APC knows it cannot win a free, fair and credible election after plunging Nigerians into hunger, hardship and insecurity. That is why it wants Nigerians to believe that results will be written. It is a lie. The era of writing results in hotel rooms is gone forever,” he said.

Ologbondiyan argued that safeguards provided by the amended Electoral Act, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), alongside growing political awareness among Nigerians, had strengthened the defences against electoral fraud.

“Every polling unit will be protected. Every vote will be counted, and every vote will count. Nigerians are more determined than ever to take back their country through the ballot,” he added.

The council called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations and civil society organisations to mobilise eligible voters to collect their PVCs and reject attempts to discourage them from participating in the electoral process.

It also urged Nigerians to keep their voter cards safe in preparation for the election.
“We urge all Nigerians not to be deterred. Go and collect your PVC today and keep it safe. In 2027, you will vote, and your vote will count. No one can stop the will of the people,” Ologbondiyan said.

The ADC-PCC further pledged that the party, whose presidential candidate is former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, would deploy polling agents to every polling unit nationwide to monitor voting, protect ballots and prevent attempts to subvert the people’s mandate.

The council said the planned deployment was part of its commitment to safeguarding the electoral process and ensuring that the outcome of the 2027 election reflects the wishes of voters.
