Three transmission towers have collapsed along the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga 132kV Transmission Line corridor, disrupting electricity supply to customers served by the Keffi and Akwanga transmission substations in Nasarawa State.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said the incident occurred at about 4:06 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, during rainy and windy conditions.
According to the company, the 132kV Karu-Keffi-Akwanga Single Circuit Transmission Line tripped on overcurrent relay protection during the incident.
TCN said investigations subsequently confirmed the collapse of Towers T78, T79 and T80 along the transmission corridor, prompting the company to isolate the affected section for safety reasons.
As a result, all 33kV outgoing feeders at the 132/33kV Keffi and 132/33kV Akwanga Transmission Substations are currently unavailable.
TCN said no load can be nominated on the affected feeders until further notice, meaning electricity supply through the affected feeders cannot be scheduled for the time being.
The company said its engineers are already at the site assessing the extent of the damage and determining the materials and other requirements needed to begin restoration work.
TCN apologised for the disruption, particularly to electricity customers receiving supply from the affected substations, and said it was working to complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible.
The Transmission company added that it would provide further updates as restoration efforts progress.
