Stop attack on Lawal, LG chair tells Zamfara APC chair
The chairman of Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara state, Hon. Yahaya Yari, has condemned the statement credited to the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji, alleging that Governor Dauda Lawal does not support members of the party.
Kabiru Moyi was reported to have made the allegation during the APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Gusau a few days ago.
Reacting to the development, Wednesday, Hon. Yari described the remarks as false, disrespectful and an insult to the person and office of the governor.
He said it was unfortunate that the state party chairman could make such a claim despite being a direct beneficiary of Governor Lawal’s administration.
Yari said the APC chairman was awarded a contract worth N87 million under the current administration, yet he has failed to extend similar support to people at the grassroots.
“The APC chairman, Hon. Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji, was given a contract of Eighty-Seven Million Naira. How many people did he buy motorcycles for in his town? How many people did he support with capital to start business?” Yari stated.
He noted that the party chairman’s comment was capable of causing disunity within the party and tarnishing the image of the government that has been accommodating to all stakeholders.
According to him, loyal members of the party will no longer fold their arms and watch anyone disparage Governor Dauda Lawal.
“We are solidly behind Governor Dauda Lawal. From now on, we will not condone any individual or group of persons who insults the Governor. Such disrespect must stop,” he said.
