American actress, Zendaya has been criticised online after she remained seated while greeting French First Lady Brigitte Macron at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week.

The actress was seated in the front row at the Louvre when Brigitte approached her. A video showed Zendaya looking up, smiling and shaking her hand while saying, “Hello, pleasure to meet you.”

Some social media users criticised the actress, arguing that she should have stood up to greet Brigitte out of respect.

Others defended Zendaya, pointing out that she appeared to have been caught off guard and questioned whether standing was necessary in the setting.

Some users also noted that Zendaya had earlier remained seated when LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault greeted her moments before Brigitte approached.
