A Muslim man has questioned if it was necessary to have a Christian prayer room at the airport alongside a Muslim prayer room.
Sanusi Lafiagi, a lecturer, said that whenever he’s at the airport, he notices people going into the Muslim Prayer room to pray but no one ever uses the Christian prayer room.
He then asked if a Christian prayer room was provided only as a way to ensure balance, even when it is not needed.
He wrote: “For quite sometime now, I noticed that there are two spaces reserved for prayers at the domestic wing of the Muritala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos. One is labeled: Muslim Prayer Room, and the other, Christian Prayer Room.
“For as long as I have traveled, I have prayed inside the Prayer room, which is usually packed full. In fact, once you finish praying, you will be asked to leave immediately to allow others to use the space. I have never seen anything like that happening on the other side. In fact, the only people I have seen going in and out of that place are the cleaners, which begs the question.
“Was there really a need for it? Or was just about whatever you give the Muslims, you must give the Christians, too, even when its needless?”
