The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Kaduna state government for investing in modern vocational skills centres across while urging other governors to emulate such initiative.

NANS National President, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, gave the commendation during an inspection of a vocational skills centre in Kaduna.

Afeez said the facilities demonstrated the importance of complementing classroom education with vocational training.

According to him, NANS was in Kaduna for its national sitting and used the opportunity to inspect infrastructure provided by the state government.

He described the vocational centre as impressive, saying it was equipped with modern facilities for skills acquisition and training.

“What we saw here is excellent. In fact, it is beyond what words can express,” Chimosis said.

He commended Governor Uba Sani for taking vocational training closer to students and residents through centres established across the state.

Afeez said about 4,000 students had graduated from the centres, which he said were located across the state’s three senatorial districts.

He commended the transparent application process and facilities including hostels, cafeteria, workshops and a clinic at the centre.

According to him, the facilities showed that the state government was giving attention to youth development and practical skills acquisition.

He described the centre as a modernised vocational training facility, citing its solar, carpentry, woodwork and other modern equipment.

He said the centre also produced school uniforms, desks and office furniture, which could help reduce government expenditure.

He urged beneficiaries to use the skills acquired to become productive and teach others who did not have access to the centre.

The NANS president said the association had not encountered a similar facility during its engagements across the country.

He urged the people of Kaduna state to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving vocational education and empowering young people.
