● How Ibru Varsity Pro-Chancellor Anthony Kila Popular for Analysing Corruption On TV Is Submerged In Subject Matter

He was on ARISE TV yesterday, confident, articulate, dissecting President Bola Tinubu’s October 1, 2026 Independence Day speech as a professor of strategy and development.

By this morning, that same man — Anthony Kila — was on the front pages as a fake professor.

The jarring contrast was captured by Wale Sanyaolu, a journalist with The SUN newspaper, who wrote that he watched Kila on television yesterday and woke up to a PREMIUM TIMES investigation flagging him.

“I watched him on ARISE TV yesterday, confidently analysing President Tinubu’s October 1, 2026 Independence Day speech. By this morning, Premium Times was reporting that the man had been flagged as a fake professor,” Sanyaolu wrote.

His post has reignited a bigger question that goes beyond Kila — what due diligence do television stations do before conferring expert status on guests?

Sanyaolu was blunt. “You really have to wonder what goes on behind the scenes before some of these ‘experts’ are invited repeatedly onto television. ARISE TV, in particular, may need to take a second look at its due-diligence process.”

Because a TV appearance does more than fill airtime, he argued. Repeated appearances confer credibility and authority on a guest, turning a claimed title into a perceived fact in the eyes of millions of viewers.

And this is not the first time ARISE TV has been caught in that web.

Sanyaolu recalled the case of Kelvin Emmanuel, another regular face on the Breakfast Show who presented himself as an oil and gas expert before serious allegations of financial misconduct emerged around his dealings with several people. His appearances on the programme subsequently stopped.

“Now, we have another ‘Professor’, sorry, Mr Kila, who was still being presented on television as a professor and political analyst yesterday,” Sanyaolu wrote, adding that a little verification could save everyone embarrassment.

“At this rate, perhaps the next item on ARISE TV’s pre-interview checklist should simply be: ‘Please provide evidence that your title is actually yours.’”

The story has been confirmed by NOP NIGERIA. The Team Lead of NOP NIGERIA, Adeola Yusuf, Ph.D, wrote: “The story is true! The ‘Jean Monnet Professor of Strategy and Development’, as you will find on official websites of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, is exposed. That UK University Anthony Kila claimed to get his professorial Chair is Non-Existent.”

Yusuf added a biting irony that has now gone viral among journalists — “That guy that frequently appears on TV to analyse corruption is submerged in the subject matter.”
