Haske dumps APC for another party

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has resigned from the party and joined the Allied Peoples Movement, (APM), ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Haske formally announced his resignation from the APC on Saturday at an event attended by political leaders, stakeholders, traditional and community leaders, as well as youth and women’s groups, loyalists and supporters from across the 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.

Haske has also picked the APM governorship ticket, positioning himself as the party’s candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

His defection comes after days of speculation that the former APC governorship aspirant was set to leave the party. The development had generated interest among political stakeholders in the state, particularly because Haske was one of the major contenders for the APC governorship ticket during the party’s primary election.

Haske explains decision to leave APC

Speaking during his formal defection, Haske said his decision to leave the APC and join the APM was based on principle, service and his commitment to the aspirations of the people of Adamawa State.

He said his decision was also informed by his belief that the APM provided the most credible platform through which he could pursue a people-centred development agenda.

According to him, the new political platform would provide an opportunity to work towards building an Adamawa State that is more prosperous, inclusive and secure.

Haske said his political decision was not merely about changing parties but about finding a platform that aligns with his vision for the state and its people.

He told supporters and party stakeholders that his commitment to public service remained unwavering, stressing that the interests and aspirations of the people would remain central to his political activities ahead of the 2027 election.

The former APC chieftain also expressed appreciation to the leadership of the APM for the confidence reposed in him following his decision to join the party.

He specifically thanked the National Chairman of the APM, the National Working Committee and the Adamawa State chapter of the party for welcoming him and entrusting him with the responsibility of flying its flag in the governorship election.

‘I accept this mandate with humility’

Haske said he was deeply grateful to the leadership of the APM for believing in his shared vision and giving him the opportunity to represent the party in the 2027 governorship election.

“I am deeply grateful to the leadership of the Allied Peoples Movement for their belief in our shared vision and for entrusting me with the responsibility of carrying the party’s flag in the 2027 governorship election.

“I accept this mandate with humility and an unwavering determination to justify this confidence through integrity, hard work, and dedicated service to the people of Adamawa State,” he stated.

He said the mandate came with a responsibility to the people of the state, adding that he would remain committed to integrity, hard work and dedicated service.

The event also provided an opportunity for his supporters and political allies to publicly identify with his new political platform as preparations begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

APM chairman backs Haske

Speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described Haske as a leader whose political philosophy closely aligns with the progressive ideals of the party.

Dantalle said Haske’s commitment to people-centred governance was consistent with the principles and objectives of the APM.

The APM chairman’s endorsement further reinforced the party’s decision to entrust Haske with its governorship ticket as it prepares to contest the 2027 election in Adamawa State.

The gathering attracted party leaders and stakeholders alongside traditional and community leaders, youth and women’s groups, loyalists and supporters drawn from the 21 LGAs of the state.

The event concluded with calls for unity among members and supporters of the party.

Stakeholders at the gathering pledged to work collectively towards strengthening the APM’s political structure and building a stronger movement ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Haske’s move from the APC to the APM is expected to add a new dimension to the political contest in Adamawa State as political parties and aspirants continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
