2027 : There’ll be No New Buildings, Road Construction in Nigeria if I’m Elected — Obi
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged that if elected president in the January 16, 2027 election, his administration would suspend the construction of new buildings and roads across the country until existing ones are properly rehabilitated.
Obi made the remarks on Thursday during an exclusive interview with Arise Television. He emphasized that there would be no new extension buildings for the president, the First Lady, or anyone else in government.
“So, you’re not going to see the building of new guest houses, the building of anything. In fact, no new building. No new building,” he stated.
On roads, Obi said his government would first focus on repairing the current network before considering any new projects.
“We’ll fix the existing roads before building new ones. We’re not going to start building new extensions for the president or for the wife or for anybody. We will fix what is existing,” he added.
