2027 election: INEC releases final list of 18 presidential candidates for *Full list

The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the final list of presidential candidates and their running mates for the January 2027 general elections.

The list, signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, was released on Saturday in Abuja and contains candidates sponsored by 18 political parties.

Of the 18 presidential candidates, 16 are male, while two are female.

Tinubu, Atiku, Obi make final list

The male presidential candidates include incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress, Peter Gregory Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party and Oyo State Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement.

Others are former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke of the People’s Redemption Party, Sunday Chibuzo Okereke of the Labour Party, African Action Congress candidate Omoyele Sowore, Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje of the Action Alliance and Aliyu Abbas-Bin of the Action Democratic Party.

Also on the list are Kabiru Yusuf of the Allied Peoples Party, Sunday Adenuga of the Boot Party, Moses Olusoji Adebisi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement, Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu of the Zenith Labour Party and Peter Ada Agada of the Young Progressive Party.

The two female presidential candidates are Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori of the National Democratic Party and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement.

Four women named as running mates

The commission also listed 14 male and four female vice-presidential candidates alongside the presidential candidates.

The female running mates are Peace Egobia Ofordile of the Allied Peoples Party, Nafisat Usaku Abubakar of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Hajja Bintu Konto of the Labour Party and Patience Ndidi Key of the Young Progressive Party.

Among the prominent pairings on the list are Tinubu and Kashim Shettima for the APC, Atiku and Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the ADC, and Obi and Musa Mohammed Rabiu Kwankwaso for the NDC.

The Labour Party is represented by Sunday Chibuzo Okereke and Hajja Bintu Konto, while the PDP’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates are Sandy Ojang Onor and Umaru Babangida.

The publication of the final list marks another major step towards the 2027 general elections, as political parties and their candidates prepare for the electoral contest.

The commission also released the final list of candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives elections.
