Four injured as farmers and herders clash over alleged farm encroachment in Kaduna
Security forces have contained a clash between farmers and herders over an alleged attempt to encroach on farmland at Mahauta Village in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 when troops of Sector 7, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), deployed at Manchok, responded to a report of the confrontation.
The troops moved to the area and succeeded in containing the situation before it could escalate further.
Four persons, comprising two herders and two farmers, were found to have sustained injuries during the confrontation.
The injured victims were evacuated to the Primary Health Care Centre in Manchok for treatment.
Following the incident, the Ardo of Dakachi and the respective youth leaders of the communities were apprehended and detained for questioning as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the clash.
Security forces are maintaining presence in the area to prevent further escalation and restore calm between the affected communities.
