Niger: Ex- speaker in court action to reclaim APC ticket, declares support for Bago, Tinubu

Former Speaker of the Niger state House of Assembly, Adamu Usman, has declared unalloyed support for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in 2027, explaining that he has however, approached the court to reclaim his ticket as consensus APC candidate for the Lavun, Edati, Mokwa federal constituency.

Usman stated this in an interview with journalists during the inauguration of the Amana – Bago – Tinubu Support Group in Minna on Thursday.

He explained that the court action filed at the Federal High Court II Minna, was aimed at “addressing the injustice perpetuated by the APC leadership who dropped his name in the list submitted to INEC as the consensus candidate at the party primaries and replaced him with another person.”

This, he said, has not in anyway diminished the determination of his group to work for the overall victory of the party in 2027 elections.

He said, “When we discovered that my name was removed as consensus APC candidate of my constituency in the list to INEC, we approached the court to reclaim the ticket. However, because courts were in vacation, nothing much was done. The good news now is that the court has resumed at the case has been mentioned on 21st September 2025”.

He explained that the inauguration of the Amana – Bago, Tinubu Support Group will ensure that his supporters continue to mobilise electorates for the success of the party in 2027.

“We have all agreed to work for the victory of our party APC in the 2027 general elections at all levels because we can’t be fighting and overlooked the subject matter which is the success of the party in the polls”, he said.
