A 100- year- old woman, Hajiya Murjanatu Dan-Azumi Rogo, was among 61 students who Monday graduated from Sabilur-Rashad Islamic Centre, Kano.
Despite her age, she was not discouraged from acquiring the basic Islamic knowledge. She stayed in the school for a period of 10 years learning the glorious Qur’an.
Hajiya Rogo started from knowing the basic knowledge to an extent of memorising the whole 60 chapters of the glorious scripture.
Speaking during the event, held at the centre’s conference hall, the chairman of the Board of Trustees, TPL Almustapha D. Inuwa, said the ceremony was 20th of its kind.
Inuwa said the students comprised 31 married women, 23 girls, three boys and four students who fully memorised the glorious Qur’an.
He used the opportunity to commend the center, especially its teachers who dedicated their effort inculcating sound Islamic knowledge into the students.
He urged parents and guardians to work hard toward further inculcating sound behaviour into their wards.
He said the success recorded was due to the effort put up by parents and husbands to ensure the students graduated with filying coloures.
He described the gesture as happy moment.
