Former RTEAN chairman and son remanded over m8rder in Ekiti

A magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti on Monday remanded a 70-year-old man, Rotimi Olabiwonnu and his 34-year-old son, Adedoyin Olabiwonnu, in a correctional centre over the alleged m8rder of one Sunday Ogunsakin.
In a Form K brought by the police, prosecutor Akinwale Oriyomi told the court that the defendants committed the offence in Afao-Ekiti on September 14.
He alleged that the father, a former chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria in Ekiti State, conspired with his son and m8rdered Mr Ogunsakin.
Oriiyomi said the deceased was abducted by the defendants over a land dispute.
He told the court that he was pulled out of the car and sustained injury as a result.
The prosecutor added that he was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed d8ad.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor then urged the court to remand the defendants at the correctional centre, pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
However, the court did not accept their pleas.
The chief magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, consequently ordered the defendants remanded to the correctional centre pending legal advice.
He adjourned the case until November 2 for mention. – NAN
