Benue South: Moro flags off campaign, drums support for Tinubu

Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District, has urged his constituents to massively vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the 2027 general election.

Moro made the call at the official flag-off of his senatorial campaign in Otukpo, where he said his bid for re-election was not merely a quest for another term but a renewed commitment to the people and an opportunity to build on the progress already achieved.

The Senate Minority Leader expressed concern over what he described as the neglect of Benue South by the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led administration, alleging that the situation had placed excessive pressure on him as constituents increasingly looked to him for leadership and intervention.

He lamented the killings and displacement caused by insecurity in parts of Benue South, accusing the state government of failing to show sufficient concern for the plight of affected communities.

Moro also challenged the Alia administration to provide concrete evidence of its achievements and factual figures showing what had accrued to the state treasury over the past three years.

The senator said he had sponsored about 16 bills and moved 16 motions on the floor of the National Assembly, while attracting projects to all nine local government areas in Benue South, alongside numerous other interventions.

He urged the people of Benue South to support the PDP governorship candidate, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, who he described as prepared to work in the interest of the people and ensure better governance.

In his remarks, former Governor Samuel Ortom called on PDP supporters and the people of Benue South to unite behind Moro and all candidates of the party, saying the election presented an opportunity to choose credible leadership, accountability and meaningful development.

Governorship candidate Aondoakaa also urged the people of Benue to rally behind the PDP, describing the party as a team committed to good governance, accountability and development.

The etate PDP Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Awulu Adaji, commended the massive turnout at the campaign flag-off, saying it demonstrated the people’s desire for purposeful representation, responsive leadership and meaningful development.

A major highlight of the event was the presentation of party flags to four National Assembly candidates and 11 state House of Assembly candidates, with the party declaring that the turnout had demonstrated its readiness for the 2027 electoral contest.
