The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Area (LGA), in Benue state, Mr Maurice Orwough, on Wednesday pledged to complete ongoing projects, address infrastructure and security needs.

Orwough, who spoke during a media briefing marking his second anniversary in office, acknowledged that challenges remained, but he will continue engaging communities and stakeholders to promote development and improve the wellbeing of residents.

He highlighted road infrastructure, healthcare, water supply, agriculture and security as major areas of achievement in his two years in office.

He said his administration had commenced the asphalt construction of the Ngban-Udei Road and constructed five major culverts along the Daudu-Uikpam route.

Orwough noted that his administration had also established a scholarship programme benefiting 200 Guma students annually, adding that he has also supported traditional rulers, council officials and other stakeholders with more than 20 cars and over 100 motorcycles.

He also listed the reconstruction of the collapsed culvert along the Origbo-Gbajimba Road and the construction of administrative blocks at the council headquarters among projects executed by his administration.

In healthcare, the chairman said his administration was constructing clinics at Ukaa and Aninge while renovating the ALGON Clinic at Torkula.

He said motorised boreholes had also been provided in Uikpam, Abinsi, Kwenev, Umenger and Yogbo to improve access to potable water across the council area.

According to him, the council has also supported farmers with fertilisers and herbicides, while security agencies have received vehicles and motorcycles to enhance their operations and mobility.
