Troops neutralise suspected terrorist in Zamfara
Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have neutralised a suspected terrorist during a counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operation in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
A counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a post on X on Wednesday.
According to Makama, military sources said the troops, deployed in the Galadi area of Sokoto State, sighted suspected terrorists on motorcycles attempting to cross a road in Shinkafi.
The troops engaged the suspects, killing one of them while the others fled the area.
The deceased was reportedly found wearing a woodland camouflage vest underneath his traditional kaftan.
Further examination of his mobile phone allegedly revealed photographs of him dressed in camouflage and brandishing a PKM machine gun.
The troops recovered four mobile phones and N30,350 from the suspect.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to curb terrorist and bandit activities across the North-West.
