Troops investigate killing of man amid dispute with Fulani family in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have commenced investigations into the killing of a 43-year-old man, Desmond Ayuba, at Taggai village in Manguna District, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, by suspected Fulani armed men.

Security sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 5:50 am on September 27, 2026, when troops responded to a report of an isolated attack and the killing of Ayuba by suspected Fulani militias in front of his residence.

Upon arrival at the scene, he said the troops confirmed that Ayuba had been killed.

According to him, “Preliminary information obtained at the location indicated that the deceased had reportedly been involved in a series of disagreements with a Fulani family in the village associated with an individual identified as Dere.”

Makama said the circumstances surrounding the disagreement and whether it was connected to the killing remain subject to investigation.

He added that security personnel have commenced efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack, while further investigation is ongoing to establish the motive and circumstances of the incident.
