Suspected bandits kill APC chairman, one other in Kano
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman of Rantan Ward in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Garba Buba, and one other person were shot dead by suspected bandits.
Reports from locals said the attackers invaded Rantan community on Sunday night and opened fire, killing Buba and Sulaiman Zunduma.
Locals, who did not want their names mentioned, said Buba was shot during the attack and later died in hospital while receiving treatment.
“Last night, Sunday, suspected kidnappers attacked our town, Rantan. During the attack, they shot Alhaji Garba Buba, the APC chairman of Rantan Ward, who later died in hospital from the injuries sustained,” a resident said.
The resident added that the gunmen also shot another resident, Alhaji Sa’adu.
“They also shot Alhaji Sa’adu and killed another person, Sulaiman Zunduma,” he said.
Confirming Buba’s death, a family member, Hafsat Garba Rantan, described him as her paternal uncle.
The incident occurred hours after gunmen attacked Chiromawa community in Garun Malam Local Government Area of the state, abducting the Sarkin Noman Jihar Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa.
Three persons were reportedly killed during the attack, which occurred at about 11 p.m. on Saturday.
Some local government areas in Kano North that border Katsina and Zamfara states have lately come under frequent bandit attacks, with residents living in palpable fear.
