The Sokoto state government has spent N1 billion to provide digital equipment to the state owned TV, state radio and FM stations, the managing director, Sokoto state Media Corporation, Alhaji Labaran Lumo Dundaye, has said.
Comrade Labaran stated this while speaking at the monthly congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto state council, held at the NUJ Press Centre, Zuru Road.
He said the digital facilities provided for RIMA Radio, RIMA FM and RIMA Television included two transmitters, editing suites, cameras and other related modern equipment.
He added that the gesture is to fully digitalise the operations of the three stations and expand their reach to the global community through their ICT department.
The managing director further stated that the state government has provided five operational vehicles to bolster operations of the three broadcast stations.
