The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Edo state council, has passed a vote of implicit confidence in the acting managing director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Comrade Festus Alenkhe, citing improved news coverage, live broadcasts and wider dissemination of government activities under his leadership.
The labour body said Alenkhe’s assumption of office had brought renewed vibrancy to the state-owned station, with EBS expanding its coverage beyond Edo to broadcast major events from Lagos, Abuja and even Burkina Faso.
In a statement signed by its Edo state chairman, Comrade Bernard Joman Eguakhide, the NLC commended Alenkhe, a journalist with more than two decades of experience at EBS, for what it described as significant changes at the station.
The NLC specifically highlighted the live coverage of the funeral of the late Catholic Archbishop of Benin, Most Rev. Augustine Obiora Akubeze, as well as the live broadcast of the WAFU B football final in Burkina Faso.
