Security operatives arrest three suspected kidnappers, rescue victims in Edo
A combined team of operatives of the Edo State Police Command, local hunters and other security agencies have apprehended three suspected kidnappers in the state.
The operatives also rescued three kidnapped victims, while one still remains in captivity.
DAILY POST reports that the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, who disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City, said the victims were abducted by gunmen in Ekpoma town, Esan West Local Government Area, and whisked into Illeh forest.
Ikoedem gave the names of the three rescued victims as Olaefe Ehimen, Taiye Ibrahim and Mrs Ehimen.
She said the kidnappers had already contacted the family members of the victims to demand ransom before they were rescued by the security agencies.
“The police received a distress call over the kidnapping incident and mobilised, in collaboration with local hunters and other security agencies, for bush combing in Illeh forest and rescuing the victims.
“The operation also led to the arrest of three suspects in connection with the kidnapping,” she said.
She said efforts were in top gear to apprehend the rest of the syndicate.
