Okolo: Renowned peace advocate leads strategic visit to Nigerian UN ambassador

Hon. Dr. Jim Chimezie Okolo, a distinguished Nigerian statesman, philanthropist, and global peace advocate, paid a strategic working visit to Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United Nations, at the Nigerian House in Manhattan, New York.
The visit was a powerful demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its global presence and engaging meaningfully with its diaspora.Hon. Okolo, whose career spans diplomacy, humanitarian service, and enterprise, was accompanied by Gen.
Walter Chinedu Obi, a decorated United States Army Veteran. Their joint presence symbolized the fusion of political leadership and military distinction in pursuit of Nigeria’s advancement on the world stage.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, widely admired for his diplomatic acumen, welcomed the delegation warmly and emphasised Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to advancing peace, security, and sustainable development through active engagement at the United Nations.
He noted that Nigeria’s voice at the UN must be amplified by the contributions of its diaspora, whose expertise and influence remain invaluable assets.

He currently serves as West African Regional Director for Inter-Governmental Affairs at the International Human Rights Protection Service (IHRPS), USA, after previously holding the position of National Director of Peace and Conflict Resolution.
He has also been honored as a United Nations Mayor for World Peace, inducted as an Implementing Partner for Global Peace by the Nigerian Air Force Directorate of Peace Support Operations, and accredited as an International Elections Diplomat by the UN/Switzerland.Beyond diplomacy, Hon. Okolo is the President of the Jim Mezie Foundation, which focuses on community empowerment and youth development.
He is also the Managing Director and CEO of Jimez Petroleum Resources Ltd, a key player in Nigeria’s energy sector, and Chairman of the Governing Council of Bridget University, Mbaise, where he champions academic excellence and leadership training.
His grassroots impact is recognized through his traditional title as Chief of Eleme Kingdom in Rivers State, conferred by HRH John Adimkpa Nkpe.
Gen. Walter Chinedu Obi’s presence at the meeting added gravitas, reflecting his U.S. Army service and the values of discipline, resilience, and sacrifice.
