Ogun communities cry out over bad roads, 3-month power blackout.

Residents across 16 communities under four Community Development Councils (CDCs) in the Odeda Local Government Area (LGA) of Ogun state have lamented the state of road, and power blackout in the communities.

The affected communities which includes, Ilupeju Bode Olude, Bode Olude, Abusi Edumare, and Harmony CDCs, however appealed to the Senator representing Ogun West, Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola for urgent intervention.

Speaking on behalf of the communities, a former CDC Chairman in Bode-Olude, Mogaji Ayoola Taiwo, described the access road linking the Community Development Associations (CDAs) as deplorable, noting that past promises by successive state administrations yielded no results.

“The road has been in this condition for many years. Even when the former governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, promised that the road would be rehabilitated, nothing was done. We have also written several letters to the present administration, but our requests have yet to receive attention,” Taiwo stated.

Highlighting the economic burden on residents, Taiwo disclosed that the deteriorating road conditions have caused transport fares to skyrocket.

“We have been without electricity for almost three months. How many people can afford to spend about N2million to install a solar power system? Many residents simply cannot afford it.

“We have seen the many interventions Senator Yayi has carried out across various communities and CDCs. We are appealing to him to extend that support to us, help rehabilitate this road, and draw the attention of the appropriate authorities to our plight.

“We are citizens of this country, and we deserve basic infrastructure,” he added.
