Abducted 10-year-old girl found abandoned in Adamawa
A girl allegedly abducted from Jada in the Jada Local Government Area of southern Adamawa State has been found in neighbouring Mayo-Belwa LGA.
The girl, 10-year-old Ummi Jafar, was said by the Adamawa State Police Command to have been abducted by unknown persons from her home in Jada.
“Following a report received, Police operatives swiftly responded and launched a search operation. The child was found abandoned at Mararaba Mbilla, Mayo-Belwa LGA,” the police said in a statement.
In a statement signed and sent to journalists on Thursday evening by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, the command added, “The child was immediately taken to a medical facility for examination and was subsequently discharged.
Nguroje added that the girl was under police care, while efforts were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.
“The Command assures members of the public that investigation is in progress and all persons connected to the crime will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” he stated.
