The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has released the September 2026 monthly energy caps for Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), the ceiling figures that determine how much power unmetered customers can be billed for, based on what their feeders actually consumed in August.

Published under Order NERC/307/2022, the methodology governing monthly energy caps for unmetered customers of Nigeria’s electricity distribution licensees, the schedule spans more than 30 business units across the Federal Capital Territory including Garki, Wuse, Maitama, Asokoro, Gwarimpa, Kubwa and Gwagwalada and extends into parts of Nasarawa State, covering Akwanga, Keffi and Lafia.

The data reveal sharp disparities in billing exposure depending on feeder and service band. At the top end, a feeder in Asokoro’s high-end residential district was capped at 1,889 kilowatt-hours (kWh) for the month, while several feeders in Jabi, Jiwa, Mararaba and Lafia were capped as low as 61kWh, a spread of more than 30-fold within the same distribution company.

Broadly, feeders in Abuja’s more affluent districts: Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse and parts of Garki recorded consistently higher caps, several exceeding 1,000kWh, in line with more stable supply and higher consumption patterns in those areas.

By contrast, feeders in outlying and semi-rural business units such as Abaji, Bwari, Kuje and the Nasarawa satellite towns mostly fell within Band C and D classifications, with caps rarely exceeding 200kWh.
