Mbah hails Powell Homes MD as youth enterprise model
Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has commended the Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd., Architect Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, describing him as a reference point for youths seeking to make an impact through enterprise.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai, spoke on Wednesday at the commissioning of Hosana Estate in Ibagwa Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area. He said private-sector housing investments complement government efforts to accelerate development across the state.
Ossai said the investment by the Enugu-born entrepreneur reflected the resilience and determination required to build a better state. He assured investors and residents of a secure environment for businesses and communities to thrive.
“As government, our primary objective is to provide security for the people, and I’m delighted with what I’ve seen about the estate,” he said.
He urged the developers to work closely with estate management for effective administration, and pledged continued infrastructure expansion.
“On our part, we’ll keep expanding infrastructure and for all those we’ve not attended to, do not be disappointed, we’re already on that path and we’re progressing geometrically,” he said.
The Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Beloved-Dan Anike, said the ongoing dualisation of the road had enhanced the area’s prospects as an emerging urban centre. He called the project a trailblazing move into a “future goldmine” and said housing projects like Hosana Estate could help address Nigeria’s housing deficit, particularly in Enugu.
The traditional ruler of Ibagwa Nike, Igwe Emma Ugwu, said the community welcomed genuine investments capable of contributing to its growth. He recalled assuring residents who made enquiries about the project that it was in line with the state’s development agenda.
“I assured them that it aligns with the developmental initiative of His Excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and that the company is genuine and reliable,” he said.
Emmanuel described the project as more than another housing estate.
“Today is not simply about commissioning another housing project. It is a celebration of vision, perseverance, partnership and the power of purpose,” he said.
He said Hosana Estate was designed as a planned, functional community around the needs of modern families. Facilities include internal roads, drainage, electricity infrastructure, recreational facilities, a synthetic football pitch and a children’s playground.
Emmanuel said the company would keep developing quality homes at affordable price points while exploring innovative financing models and strategic partnerships to widen access to homeownership.
“While today marks the successful completion and commissioning of Hosana Estate, our journey does not end here,” he said.
He disclosed that Powell Homes and Shelters plans to expand its developments beyond Enugu to other parts of Nigeria where the need exists.
