Mark To Inaugurate ADC Presidential Campaign Council Friday
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, will on Friday inaugurate the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC), formally setting the stage for the opposition party’s nationwide campaign for the 2027 presidential election.
The inauguration is scheduled to hold at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the National Chairman on Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan.
Ologbondiyan said the ceremony would bring together the party’s leadership and candidates across the various elective positions, with ADC leaders, governorship candidates, National Assembly candidates and State House of Assembly candidates expected to attend.
The inauguration comes barely two weeks after the unveiling of the 69-member campaign structure approved by the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The council is chaired by Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as Deputy Chairman and Senator Austin Akobundu as Director-General.
Other prominent figures in the structure include Atiku as presidential candidate, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate and David Mark as National Chairman.
The Campaign Advisory Board is headed by former Edo State Governor and former APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, while the policy team is led by economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The campaign structure also features veteran journalist and publisher Dele Momodu as Deputy Director-General of the Media and Communications Directorate, former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye as Deputy Director-General of Contact and Mobilisation, and Loretta Onochie as Deputy Director-General of Technical and Systems.
Ologbondiyan is listed as Director of Media and Publicity, while Phrank Shaibu is Director of Strategic Communication.
The council’s other notable members include former governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Abdulfatah Ahmed and Emeka Ihedioha, as well as Kingsley Moghalu, Senator Ireti Kingibe, Hajia Naja’atu Mohammed, Kenneth Okonkwo, Solomon Dalung and Salihu Tanko Yakasai, among others.
The inauguration is expected to formally activate the ADC’s presidential campaign machinery, with the party seeking to consolidate its opposition coalition and mount a nationwide challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
