Kano injects N21bn into water treatment plant rehabilitation

‎The Kano state government has injected N21 billion into the rehabilitation and overhaul of water treatment plants across the state to ensure a constant supply of potable water to the people in the state.

‎The special adviser to the governor on Publicity, Hon. Ahmed S. Aruwa, stated this today when he met members of the International Human Rights Network at the office of the Managing Director of the Kano State Water Board, Engineer Garba Ahmad Bichi, before embarking on an inspection tour of some water supply points along Hadejia Road and parts of Gezawa and Gabasawa Local Government Areas.

‎Hon. Aruwa told the activist group Thursday that potable drinking water was already available in many parts of the state. ‎“You see, my work is to go around all the areas where rehabilitation projects have been carried out, assess the situation, and inform the people about the efforts being made by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to ensure adequate water supply. ‎“Alhamdulillah, in all the areas I inspected, there is water flowing with pressure from the taps,” he said.

‎He further stated that the Gordon Dutse Water Reservoir had already been filled with more than 40,000 litres of water, adding that the water would soon reach the Kano metropolitan area.

‎The special adviser called on activist groups in the state to reciprocate the commitment of the present administration by supporting its efforts to improve the living conditions of the people, particularly in the area of water supply.

‎In his remarks, the managing director of the Kano State Water Board, Garba Ahmad Bichi, said the state government is targeting a production of 400 million litres by December this year.
