The federal government will on Wednesday unveil the $1 billion Renewed Hope Social Protection Programme, a major initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s social protection system and improving the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households across the country.
The programme will be unveiled by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at an event scheduled to hold at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja as stated in a statement signed
by Janet McDickson Noah on Tuesday in Abuja.
Blueprint reports that the initiative is being implemented through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, headed by the Minister, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, as part of the Federal Government’s renewed efforts to place social protection, poverty reduction, and economic inclusion at the centre of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Accordding to the statement, the programme is expected to introduce a more integrated, household centred and results driven approach to social protection, with emphasis on ensuring that interventions produce sustainable improvements in the lives and livelihoods of beneficiaries.
