2027 polls: Adamawa ADC governorship candidate dares Atiku, Mark over party ticket

The governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADCi) in Adamawa state, Amb. Omar Sulaiman, has dared former Vice President  Atiku Abubakar, who is the party’s presidential candidate over party ticket in the state, insisting that he still remains the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state.

This followed Atiku’s open endorcement of Hammantukur Madibbo who allegedly came second in the  party primaries conducted in the state, and whose name is believed to be in the INEC portal as the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

Speaking at a press conference in Yola on Friday, upon his return to the state, Sulaiman expressed shocked over Atiku’s presentation of Madibbo as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state.

He called on Atiku to refrain from any action  capable of undermining  the lawful process already undertaken by the party,  adding that the issue is currently in the court for determination.

“Ordinarily such post might have been dismissed as another episode of political mischief  coming  from a former vice president, a presidential candidate and national leader of our party  and a man who publicly identifies himself as a democrat, however, it has  assumed a gravity that cannot be ignored.

“Let me therefore state clearly and unequivocally that I remain the duly elected gubernatorial candidate of the ADC in Adamawa state  ”

He further noted that the party’s governorship primary was conducted under the supervision of INEC  and was witnessed by party members and the general public where he emerged victorious while Madibbo came second.

He alleged that his name was duly submitted to INEC  as the party’s candidate only to be substituted  later  after over one month.

He said he suspected  this kind of political manipulation  that was why he approached  the Federal High court  to protect the intrrgrity of his mandate.

 and sought judicial intervention  to prevent any unlawful substitution  of his name where the court gave an injunction restraining INEC  from accepting any substitution of his name by the party or any person.

The gubernatorial hopeful added that all relevant court processes  have been duly served on INEC and the party  at both the state and the national levels, noting that he also has it on good authority that Atiku has been briefed  of his action.
