FRC showcases Nigeria’s professional talents, opportunities at Nigeria/U.S strategic dialogue
The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) has highlighted Nigeria’s evolving financial regulatory framework, investor protection mechanisms and growing pool of professional talent at the U.S-Nigeria Strategic Investment Dialogue organised by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and International Affairs.
The dialogue, held on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, brought together Nigerian and United States businesses, government agencies and financing organisations to explore opportunities for increased cross-border investment, trade and economic cooperation.
Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, led discussions on Nigeria’s economic opportunities and the federal government’s investor protection policies.
The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, highlighted the Council’s role in Nigeria’s financial regulatory ecosystem, providing practical perspectives on how the country’s coordinated regulatory framework supports policy stability, financial system integrity and investor protection.
The Council also showcased its National Repository for Financial Statements, which provides a central platform for financial statements of Public Interest Entities and is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and access to reliable corporate financial information.
According to the FRC, improved access to credible financial information and stronger reporting oversight can contribute to greater confidence among investors and support the development of Nigeria’s investment environment.
The Council further drew attention to Nigeria’s growing pool of accounting and financial professionals, spanning accountants, auditors, financial analysts, investment specialists, risk professionals and corporate finance experts.
The FRC said it is working with initiatives such as Hire From Nigeria to expand global access to Nigerian professional talent, with the objective of positioning the country as a destination for the outsourcing of highly skilled financial and professional services.
