FFS CG Adeyemi leads Nigeria’s delegation to world fire congress, signs WFC founding principles

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), led by the Controller-General, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has represented Nigeria at the 2026 World Fire Congress (WFC) in London, United Kingdom, marking the country’s first participation in the global gathering of fire and emergency service leaders.

The Congress brought together representatives from 70 nations, providing a significant international platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and innovative approaches to fire safety, emergency management and community resilience.

In a statement made available by the Service spokesman, DCF Paul O. Abraham, said the three-man delegation participated in high-level discussions focused on strengthening emergency management systems in the face of emerging and evolving risks.

“Deliberations covered the full emergency management cycle, including prevention, planning, preparedness, response and recovery, while highlighting the importance of collaboration, innovation and knowledge-sharing in building safer and more resilient communities.

“Nigeria’s participation provided the Federal Fire Service with an important opportunity to engage with counterparts from across the globe, share Nigeria’s experiences and perspectives, and explore opportunities for stronger international cooperation in fire and emergency management.”

The FFS spokesman said the Congress concluded with the signing of the World Fire Congress Founding Principles by representatives of participating nations.

“The signing reaffirmed a collective commitment to strengthening international cooperation, advancing fire safety and promoting resilient communities through shared action.

“The Federal Fire Service considers Nigeria’s inaugural participation a significant milestone in the Service’s growing international engagement and professional collaboration.

“The Service further reaffirms its commitment to leveraging global partnerships, knowledge and best practices to strengthen fire safety, emergency preparedness and response in Nigeria.”
