
Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Friday sustained a growth trend, appreciating by N437 billion as bulls dominated trading activities during the day.
The market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.28 per cent to N157.587 trillion from N157.150 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 674.61 basis points to 243052.74 points from 242378.13 traded the previous day.
The positive performance was supported by gains recorded in both small and mid cap stocks, including NGX group, AccessCorp, Fidelity, Zenith Omatek, Chams Entrazact, and others.
The market breadth was positive with 30 advancers against 18 decliners, bringing the year-to-date return higher to 56.19 per cent; the volume of trades declined by 846.110 million, representing 60.48 per cent as investors traded 552.890 million shares against 1.399 billion reported the previous day; the value of trades went down by 4.97 per cent to settle at N25.790 billion.
An analysis of the investment showed that Abbey Building Society and UPDC REIT led the gainers’ table with 10 per cent to close at N7.15 and N13.75 per unit, respectively; Omatek followed with a gain of 9.60 per cent to close at N1.37 per unit; Conhall Plc added 9.06 per cent to close at N6.50 per unit; Chams Plc gained 8.90 per cent to close at N3.67 per units; Entrazact gained 8.79 per cent to close at N13.00 per unit.
On the contrary, JohnHolt topped the losers’ chart, dropping by 10 per cent to N9.00 per unit; AustinLaz trailed with a loss of 9.55 per cent to close at N8.55 per unit; Royal Express went down 9.09 per cent to close at N0.90 per unit; Linkage Assurance dropped by 8.14 per cent to close at N1.58 per share; UDPC declined by 5.88 per cent to close at N3.20 per share.
Trading in the share of Sterling Holding Company led market activities with 92.515 million shares valued at N698.409 million; Fidelity Bank followed with an account of 61.316 million shares cost N1.164 billion; Mutual Benefits traded 28.729 million shares worth N84.631 million; GTCO Plc exchanged 28.715 million cost N373.000 million; Access Holdings Company traded 25.741 million shares cost N739.276 million.
