SDP torchbearer Adebayo tasks party faithful on door-to-door campaign

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has  charged chieftains of the party to go back to the people of Nigeria and mobilise them to support the party in readiness for  2027 general elections.

Prince Adebayo who stated this Wednesday at the party’s national convention in Abuja, said Nigerians were tired of problems and excuses and now desirous of change, adding that the citizens had been severally deceived before now.

He urged the party leaders and members to ensure that the door-to- door campaign worked.

The presidential flag bearer noted that if they carried out their mission effectively and had the opportunity of occupying their various offices in the country, the future generation would refer to them as wonderful people.

He reminded his party delegates  that Nigerians were not created poor given the abundance of mineral resources scattered all over the country.

“So I want all of us to go back and submit to people, and we will work everyday until February. Let us understand that Nigerians know what they want. They want change. They want to see the end of excuses and problems.

“Nigerians want to be in their own country and see all the end dreams. But they have been deceived many times before. That’s why all of us are assembled here. That’s why we go from door to door, and we must make that door to door to work.

“So all the leaders here are the first line in this door to door agenda. And in every community you find yourself, in the seven or ten, I make a promise to you that you will see me there.

“And if all of us will form one mission, farewell to poverty and insecurity. And God Almighty, looking at our hearts, that is, that desire, so that where the story of Nigeria is being told. Children, one hundred years from now, two hundred years from now, they will be calling the name of people in this room as wonderful people.

Also speaking, National Chairman of the party, Prof Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, said “For us, political power is not an avenue for personal ambition or self-aggrandisement. Political power is a sacred responsibility to transform society, uplift the people, create democratic institutions, and restore hope to the Nigerian people.

“This is what distinguishes the SDP from all others. Nigeria today needs a political alternative that is defined not only by words or force, but by what we stand for. We stand for security. We stand for productive employment.

“We stand for social justice. We stand for economic opportunity. We stand for accountable and people-oriented governance. And we stand for a Nigeria where everybody can live in peace and hope. Our greater task today and now is to move from consultation to mobilisation,” Gombe said.
