Bolloré Plans Fresh Investments In Nigeria After Meeting Tinubu
The Bolloré Group is planning fresh investments in Nigeria’s film, entertainment, fibre-optic and digital sectors following a meeting between its chairman, Vincent Bolloré, and President Bola Tinubu in Paris on Friday.
The investments are expected to expand production activities and employment in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy, according to a statement issued by the presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
Bolloré and his executives told Tinubu that the group would deepen the localisation of its operations in Nigeria, with new investments focused on the country.
The group’s media and entertainment interests include Canal+, which has MultiChoice Group within its portfolio, and Universal Music Group.
The executives described Nigeria as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance, citing the international reach of Nollywood and Afrobeats and growing demand for Nigerian content, according to the statement.
The planned investments cover film and entertainment as well as fibre-optic infrastructure, expanding the group’s existing interests in Nigeria’s creative and digital sectors.
Tinubu said Nigeria’s growing global cultural influence presented an opportunity to attract more production, investment and jobs into the country.
He said his administration would continue to support investments in the creative and digital economy, local talent and infrastructure.
The President also said Nigeria could serve as a base for businesses seeking access to the African market and the wider global economy.
